In Bangalore!

The happening of the following sequence of events is why am I posting on blogger and not Wordpress:
-I forgot my Wordpress password (quite rare, me forgetting passwords).
-The 'forgot password' link on Wordpress mailed to my Bitsmail account.
-I couldn't open my Bitsmail account on account of it being currently inaccessible from outsite BITS.

BTW I am in Bangalore from 2nd July, and here are some curious details about the place I live in:
1) It is within a hundred meters from a railway line.
2) It is within a hundred meters from a National Highway.
3) It is about a kilometer from the nearest Indian Railway Station.
4) It is within a hundred meters from the nearest KSRTC bus stop.
5) It is within a hundred meters from a 5-storeyed Big Bazaar.
6) It is around 500 meters from a Cafe Coffee Day.
7) It is around 500 meters from a Food World outlet.
8) It is around 500 meters from a Reliance Fresh Outlet.
9) It is around 500 meters from a Subhiksha outlet.
10) It is within a kilometer of any bank's ATM that you can think of.
11)I just have to pay 2000 bucks per month for a room here. The room is not so great, but its no worse that an IITB hostel room which I happened to visit a few years back when my brother was there. (Its true, rooms at BITS are better). I wouldn't even want to imagine what I would have to shell out if I had a similar place in Mumbai.(Hundred meters from the station? You got to be kidding!)
12) It is called Nagashettihalli, and it is close to Hebbal and Sanjaynagar.

Other general observations about Bangalore:
Its nowhere close to Mumbai. And I don't mean geographically.

Public transport is, surprisingly NOT as bad as I had imagined. Beware though, when I say public transport, I use it as a synonym for the KSRTC buses that ply everywhere in the city. Rickshaws are a nightmare- they overcharge. Trains don't exist. And taxi's are far too few and run by private companies which means they have to be called by phone if you want to hire them. The buses though are decent- they run everywhere and are certainly the best way to get around - once you know which bus to take though. The stupid thing about buses is that the route is written only in Kannada, and only the number is written in English, which means you just have to trust the guy at the bus stop who politely tells you that a particular bus will take you to a particular place. And did I mention that some of the buses on a particular route get crowded, and I mean really crowded - you can get an idea of the crowd when I say it is the nearest thing that I have seen which can be compared to the 8:30 Virar fast.

Some other random observations:
9:30 pm is a good depiction of 11:30 pm in Mumbai.
Nothing is open at 9 am on a Sunday. On Sunday morning, everybody sleeps.
The central city, the supposedly 'hub' of all activities, doesn't feel like the central city. It feels just like any other part of the city. (I am not sure, but maybe it has got something to do with me being used to see tall buildings when I visit South Mumbai)
The street food culture in Mumbai is just so much better than here. *Sigh*.

Now I know how you were going to get home so early from Big Bazaar! Looks like you have got a good deal on the apartment...
