The Big Bang Theory and the K530i

No, this is not a post about the Big Bang ( although it is interesting enough to merit a separate post itself ), rather it is a post about The Big Bang Theory, an American situational comedy created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady.

The story revolves around two nerds who are particle physics scientists, their two friends who again are similar nerds and a simple (and hot) girl waitress who comes to live across the hall. I liked the series from the first episode itself. The dialogues are really witty and they use a combination of good English and complex sentence constructs to create the laughs. There is a lot of scientific jargon thrown in, and I have a hunch that me being an engineer might have something to do with my liking the show so much. I am not quite sure the Average American would appreciate the jokes. The character Sheldon especially likes to use scientific arguments to prove himself right or to prove someone wrong, and it is done in a very amusing way.

Sample this:

Hot female neighbour (Penny) introduces herself to the nerds:
"I am a Sagittarius. That probably tells you way more than you need to know..."

Nerd's (Sheldon's) answer:
"Yes, it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the position of the sun relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality!"

Another one:

Sheldon's love for being organized makes him to enter Penny's house while she is sleeping to clean up the mess. Obviously Penny is freaked when she finds out. Sheldon's question:
"Is your objection solely to us being in your bedroom when you were sleeping or do you also object to the imposition of a new organizational paradigm?"

Another gem:
Sheldon:
"I really think we should examine the chain of causality here. Event A: A beautiful women stands naked in our shower. Event B : We drive half way across town to retrieve a Television set from the aforementioned lady's ex-boyfriend. Query: On what plane of existence is their even a semi-rational link between the events?
Leonard (2nd nerd):
"She asked me to do a favour Sheldon..."
Sheldon:
"That may be the proximal cause of our journey, but we both know it exists only in contra distinction to the higher level distal cause."
Leonard:
"Which is...?"
Sheldon:
"You think with your penis."
Leonard:
"Thats a biological impossibility. And you didn't have to come."

Did you like it? Let me know by dropping a comment..
