APOGEE 2K6 and Beyond
So finally I have decided to write something in my long stagnant blog. Was somewhat busy during the past few days because of APOGEE(A Professions Oriented Gathering Over Educational Experience)-the technical festival of BITS Pilani held during 21st to 25th March.
We had initially started out to conduct a Workshop. And the topic was "Free space Optics" which was chosen by my dear friend Rishi Mathur.(http://araiessechai.blogspot.com).To make it more impressive we tried to make a working model which worked 2 days before Apogee and the seniors were so happy that instead of putting our work in the 'workshop' category they put it in the 'project' category. And surprises of surprises! Our "project" made it into the top 5 in the "best concept" slot in the division which contained Comp sci, instru,EEE and infosys. That was a real stunner so to say.On the other hand it says something sad about APOGEE,in fact,BITS in general-that the level of Apogee must be pretty low if our 1st year project could make it into the top 5.Whatever,we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a good learning exprerience too.
This weekend was so to say a weekend of treats.Friday night I gave a long due treat to my wingies. This treat came about a month late-coz my birthday was in Feb.Yesterday night we recieved a treat from our instrumentation association seniors. And not to forget today was Sunday,so the mess had a pretty decent lunch in store for us.
One photo shows me and Rishi with our Free space optics stall and the other one shows many people of the instrumentation Forum.By the way,I belong to the EEE forum, but worked for Instru this year.

and trust me, getting a working model is _not_ that easy... concept and everything is fine, but making it work is what matters in such contests which is what you succeeded in and so deserved every bit to be in the top 5!
You are right,I wasn't at all easy to make the working model. We finally used the LM386 audio amplifier instead of the Op Amp that we had earlier planned.Kafi papad belne pade the..!
And nice to see a post! Hope the next wait wont be this long!? :)
